Gay OpinionsI'm a fairly opinionated person, where this issue is concerned. I came out (to myself) while I was in the Army, shortly after I started working as a journalist. Since then, I've always sought the truth in this matter.. I'm not interested in radical ideas, I just want to know what's really going on. And to give you an idea of what really isn't going on, I've gone to a great deal of trouble to type up a fascinating little diatribe against gays and lesbians as published by RBC Ministries, called When Passions Are Confused: Understanding Homosexuality by Jeff Olsen (who is supposedly a licensed counselor in Michigan and works in the RBC biblical correspondence department). NOTE: The above link may take a little bit to load for a text file, but there's a lot of programming involved. I've added dynamic hyperlinks to it.. just point your curser and watch the words appear in the bottom frame. It'll require either Netscape or Explorer to work. On a 56k modem, it takes about 9.2 seconds, 18.4 seconds for a 28.8 modem, and 36.8 seconds for a 14.4 modem, all under favorable conditions, not taking into account compression for text (which might speed it up). While it might seem obsessive for me to go to all this trouble, I view it as a good vehicle to express some views I have concerning homosexuality; believe me, I'm not really as hung up on how Christians view gays and lesbians as it might appear. I have a lot to say about being gay, but it's hard to organize all the information; peculiarly enough, Mr. Olsen has managed to give me a wonderful way of handling this by allowing me to argue against him through this media. Hopefully, we may all learn something from this work. I also used to post a lot of stuff to alt.politics.homosexuality . I sorta gave up, though. There are other, more worthwhile pursuits. |
