Sorry for the delays in getting this page up, but they aren't mine. My service suffered some kind of damage yesterday and I was unable to connect to the internet for several hours. Apparently, they have managed to correct the situation.
Sure enough, they scraped away some of that nasty infection in his chest. It's quite ugly now, as they didn't sew it up afterwards. They say that this will help cause it to heal faster than using stitches and such. Someone has to go in, clean and dress it every four hours, which is painful and generally not a fun thing, but we're hoping this will pass quickly.
Because of this, he's pretty worn out.
On the brighter side, one of the thing I failed to mention yesterday is that the pair of tubes running in and out of his neck have been removed. He no longer has any tubes of any sort running in or out of him... just the dressing for the wound they created while digging out some of the infection.
Anyway, because of the infection, and just how ugly the whole wound looks, plus the additional work it's going to take to clean it all up, we're not expecting Dad to be out tomorrow as we had hoped.
If you've tried to contact Dad today, but couldn't get through, understand that we pulled the phone off-line.. the more rest he gets, the faster he gets out of the hospital... and he's tired of being in the hospital. Thank you all for your patience, restraint, and support through all of this. I don't doubt we'll probably have some kind of party when he's better able to handle it. You may compare today's against yesterday's results.
